Here in Chcago, they are also taking about Granderson. I just dont want to deal the farm away for him. Especially with the new owners emphasis on building within.

If we trade Granderson I will boycott the Tigers, espically cuz they said they could deal E-Jax Why do they want to cut payroll anyways? Are they in a bad financial situation where they are forced to cut payroll? Whats the deal?

Yea, the city of Detroit is generally a mess financially, so yes that's the reason. Other midwest type teams may look to do the same type of thing - cutting payroll.

Greinke and Lincecum Cy Young winners. Well-deserved by each. Would've liked to see Felix win one though.

Would've liked to see Felix win one though. you should be happy Felix didn't win. not saying he doesn't deserve it but he and Greinke both deserves. But if he won the Cy Young, he would use that as leverage for wanting more money from the Mariners, and say see this is what I can do with this team and I can even become greater if I got to a bigger market team. with Felix being a FA after 2011, the Mariners would be better off if they signed Felix right now since he didn't win the Cy Young. If he did, he would just wait for a CC Sabathia type offer or else he'd bolt in FA.

We'll see. If they make a major push for Lackey (they are in talks with him) and have the balls to trade for Halladay the division is theirs next year.
Edit: Don't forget Aumonte. He could have a Hanson/Happ type of impact next year.

M's Sign FigginsI like it. Good price, takes a player away from a division rival. Him and Ichiro at the top of the order should be fun to watch. Guess Beltre isn't coming back?

Yeah, Beltre was gone after he got injured.

Also, looks like the M's are going after Harden and Sheets on cheap one year contracts with incentives. Now they just need a lefty in case Rowland-Smith gets injured again.

I'm loving what the Braves are doing. Wagner and Saito at the back of the pen are really great options. Plus they re-signed Hudson earlier. They now have
Hudson Vazquez Hanson Jurrjens Lowe Kawakami
as 6 legit starting pitchers, all are probably #3 options or better on most teams. Lowe or Vazquez will get traded for a big bat at 1B or a corner OF spot, preferably LF. All Braves fans hope it is Lowe that goes, but if the player is good enough for Vazquez, I won't be too upset.
Braves doing all they can to send Bobby Cox out a winner.

I wonder if Mike Gonzalez and Rafael Soriano will accept their arby offers? If they do, the Braves pen will be lethal.

I am pretty sure neither will accept. The Braves just offered them Arbitration because they are "Type A" Free Agents. This way, when they decline their offers, whatever team signs those players, the Braves get their 1st round pick, plus a 1st round Supp pick in-between the 1st and 2nd rounds. The Braves lost their own 1st to the Red Sox when they signed Wagner, so this way they make up that value.
It would be a truly incredible BP with Saito/Gonzo/Sori and then Wagner...but those 4 guys would cost about a 3rd of their payroll lol. Too much for the bullpen in Atlanta, they just don't have those funds.
Anyway, winter meetings start soon right? In the next week or so? Very excited!
