Miami, an explanation would help here. Why do you want to move Pierce? What are you looking for in your lineup makeup?
You've already traded one of your stars (Pau) for 2 above average players (Deng and Biedrins). Now you are doing it again except this time, I think you are losing the deal.

Unless Miami has a helluva good reason for making this deal, I'ma hafta reject. Pierce is a proven superstar. Ellis, while good, is a good player on a terrible team.

I will wait to hear what Miami has to say, but I am leaning towards accepting this. Ellis is 24 years old and is averaging 26 points, 5.5 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and is shooting just under 46% from the field. The fact that Ellis plays on terrible team make his numbers more impressive to me, not less. On a bad team, defenses are set up to stop you, and the fact he is still putting up fantastic numbers is impressive. Barnes also gives Miami a nice role player who could start or be a nice 6th man for his team. Pierce is a star player, but he is 32 years old and makes close to 22 mil next season. So while this may not be the best value for Pierce I don't see it as a franchise crippling deal either.

Surprisingly, I'm with Boston here. I'm not a fan of using the argument "good player on bad team" AGAINST a player, lowering their value. As Boston says, and I've said other times too, that usually makes it harder to produce well. Yes, Monta's turnovers are possibly the worst in the league, but he has career high steals (at an elite level), and career high assists (he's probably top 15-20 in the league with 5.5 a game)...and career high points (26...gotta be top 5 or close to that in the league). Also rebounds well for a skinny dude. And the 46% shooting proves he's not just getting points by shooting a ton...a la Iverson for example. He's actually shooting well for a guard.
He's signed longer, for cheaper, than Pierce, and he's younger, plus gets Barnes. I'm likely accepting as well.

Monta ellis is averaging 25ppg and is still improving. I know you say well he is on a bad team. Ellis scoring numbers are the same as paul when he was on a bad team, remember paul pierce fell off the radar before the Celtic became the team they are today . Plus ellis has something rare in players today he attacks the rim at will. If I did not have drose who is also at player who attacks the rim I would be after ellis like flies on shit.

LOL, suprisingly. That hurts. Haha, that isn't anything against you, it's just that we've been in disagreement on most things lately (buyouts, and something else slipping my mind), so it was different to agree.

I know this isn't the place for a Ellis argument but, Monta Ellis takes so many shots to get those points. His PER is 17.11. For All the players averaging close to 25 a game, he has the lowest PER by far. Everyone can score a lot of points if given the shot opps.
Players averaging 22-27 ppg
D-Wade - 27.83 PER Dirk - 22.99 PER Bosh - 26.44 PER B. Roy - 22.69 PER Jaimson - 19.15 PER Joe Johnson - 19.59 PER
I think Ellis is what he is. A fringe All-star who can score 1 dimensionally while Pierce is a proven superstar. Hes leading the league in 3 pt% this year at 47%. Hes getting older but hes re-inventing his game.

He was averaging 20 ppg 2 years ago shooting 53% on 15 shoots per a game. In addition from that time his game has improve offensively he added a jumper both inside and outside and still attacks the paint. Give him one more season before he becomes a complete offensive player. As for paul as good as he is he only has few more seasons before he declines.

Im not saying this is a terrible trade by any means. I just want to know what Miami is doing. He seems to be trading just for the sake of trading. Earlier I read in the shoutbox that he was looking for a SG for Calderon...Why? Is he going to play Monta at the point? I want to know what hes thinking.

Btw 2 years ago, his PER was 18.92. He just wont be as efficient as most big time scorers because he doesn't shoot the 3 ball well.

I keep waiting for Monta to come down off this absurd tear he has been having...and i guess i can't hold out much longer before he is considered a legit SG. So i accept but will easily see this trade being terrible once Monta comes down. way to sell high denver
