Larry Bird:“We’re excited today to announce Alec Friedman as our new General Manager, with full control of basketball operations. Just a quick introduction: Alec is currently a college student studying Sports Management with experience in simulation leagues, formally the GM of the New Jersey Nets (http://nbagmleague.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=newjerseynets) among other different leagues he has taken part in. Making this decision, we are confident in his knowledge of and passion for the game of basketball along with his plan for this team moving forward. With that said, Alec…”
Alec Friedman: “Thank you, Larry. It's obviously an honor to be working alongside somebody like Larry Bird and I’m thrilled to get the opportunity to learn from one of the best to ever play. This opportunity itself is outstanding, I’m truly excited to take control of the basketball operations here in Indiana. I already believe coming in here that this program has some great pieces, and a clear chance to grow into something special. I can promise first hand that this front office will do everything that needs to be done to improve this team. Putting together a contender is not something that happens overnight, Pacer fans and myself included are going to have to be patient and understand it is a process. We’re confident we’ll be able to put together a solid foundation in order for this program to win. But make no mistake about it, our goal is to do just that. The city of Indiana deserves a championship and we will take the necessary steps in that direction. Another thing I can promise is always, despite a re-building process, a competitive product on the floor. Under my administration the day to day expectation for this franchise is to bring a winners attitude. Like I mentioned, we already have a few guys here who we are confident can do that and the plan to start is to continue to build off of what we have. We have some valuable draft picks coming up and some players who would receive a good amount of interest in the trade market, with room to spend money over the next couple of years. I think the franchise is really in a good spot and things will only continue to get better. Any questions?”

Alec Friedman:"I agree. I feel very fortunate to have the group the last General Manager put together. My hope is to continue to lead this team in the right direction. As far as playoffs go, we will have to see who we have coming into training camp and what the team decides do with their season. But like I said, it is my expectation for us to be competitive. Making the playoffs would be a great improvement from last season."

Orlando Magic: My god your spelling is terrible Denver. What are some changes you are looking to make? Positions or players you had in mind? Alec Friedman:"The first change I'm looking for here is attitude. From what I heard, over the last couple of seasons this franchise has gotten comfortable with loosing and that's not acceptable. As far as personnel goes, we're going to see where the market is for some of the players we have and overall continue to put a nucleus in place that can last together. Obviously I won't go into specifics."
