Recent rumors have been spreading around the league about preliminary talks between Spurs point guard Monta Ellis and the Miami Heat organization. The Heat are apparently trying to acquire Ellis this offseason to fill their much needed point guard whole. The Heat also hold the 11th pick in the draft, which could be crucial in offseason trades. Heat GM Josh Barber was interviewed on the subject; "Haha... yea, I must admit, I have contacted his agent. It's never too soon to start if you ask me. We are going to have 25-30 million dollars this offseason, depending on where the cap limit is set. That means we will definately be pursueing a ton of players, and hope to bring more than just Ellis or a point guard to Miami." Ellis, who averaged just over 14 points per game for the Spurs this season, may welcome a change of scenery. The Spurs finished 4 games below .500, and currently have a guard-filled lineup. Guess only time will tell!
