(AP)We have rumors of a deal in Los Angeles between the Spurs and the Lakers that may be a shaping deal for the organization of San Antonio.
The details of the deal include the trading of the 8th pick from the San Antonio Spurs that they acquired last year in a deal that sent away Andrew Bogut. This same exact Andrew Bogut will be coming back to the Alamo along with Shooting Guard Trevor Ariza. The deal also includes Raymond Felton.
Last year the Spurs made a trade to get rid of Bogut for Joey Graham and Rasho Nestoveric along with the 8th Pick in the Draft, however they were not happy with the direction the franchise was directed and wanted to bring back in Bogut, as they feel he can legitimately play for the Spurs and contribute.
Along with the fact that Felton was not happy in San Antonio, the Spurs are planning on drafting a PG in the upcoming draft. This leads their options to be a little bit slim. General Manager, Brad Jasper, had this to say about the deal; "We're excited here in San Antonio about the potential nature of this deal, we're still waiting for Los Angeles to fully agree and hopefully they are happy with the way this deal is going."
The only thing holding this deal back right now is the nature of the Sign and Trade part of the deal. Bogut and Felton are both expected to be Free Agents in the Offseason and are going to command high dollars, and they may both be a little too expensive for some players to handle. Los Angeles is looking ot make a run at a few free agents and not to mention they have Kobe Bryant on the roster.
The Spurs are looking to remain a little bit quiet and build from the Draft and still make a run at a few Free Agents, but nothing spectacular. They have their eyes set on a few guys.
