The Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago Cubs are discussing a deal that could see Vernon Wells on his way to Chicago in exchange for Milton Bradley, according to a report in Saturday’s Toronto Sun. "It's early on, but we think this one has some legs," a Cubs official told the Sun. "But they aren't the only team we are talking with." The 31-year-old Bradley has two years and $21 million remaining on his contract. On Sept. 20 he was suspended by the Cubs for the remainder of the season after he criticized the team in a newspaper. In 2009 he hit .257 with 12 homers for the Cubs. In 2008, with the Texas Rangers, he hit .321 with 22 homers. The 30-year-old Wells has six years and $107 million remaining on his contract, including the $8.5-million final instalment of his signing bonus, which is due in March. According to the Sun, the Cubs' idea is to split the difference on monies owed -- Wells' $107 million and Bradley's $21 million for a difference of $86 million. Each team would be responsible for $43 million. COME on Cubs please take Wells

Its a trade that satisfies both teams. Doesnt really help either. Just gets rid of a problem for both. Bradley has burned all his bridges in Chicago and Wells has worn out his welcome in Toronto.

Cubs not interested in Bradley-for-Wells swap with JaysBy. Paul SullivanThe first in an expected avalanche of Milton Bradley rumors spread across the Internet on Saturday after a Toronto Sun report of a possible Bradley-for-Vernon Wells deal. The report by Sun reporter Bob Elliott quoted an unnamed Cubs official as saying "we think this one has some legs," though the story downplayed the Jays' interest in Bradley. But Wells has $107 million and six years left on his contract, as opposed to $21 million and two years left on Bradley's, meaning the Cubs would be taking on even more money and assuring themselves of six years of a defensively-challenged outfield of Alfonso Soriano in left and Wells in center. A Cubs source quickly responded to the report by saying the rumor has "no legs at all," adding the team has not discussed the possibility of bringing Wells to the North Side. www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/10/cubs-not-interested-in-wells-for-bradley-swap-with-jays.html

Wells has been a serviceable guy for the organization for quite some time but he's no longer the player he once was. It would've been tough to see him go but he has a nasty contract.
