08/21/08 D. Reese reporting The New York Knicks acquired two franchise-saving figures today, head coach Bruce Pearl and guard Dwayne Wade. Pearl was signed on to "right the ship" after the atrocious past couple of seasons in New York. Taking over halfway through last season, the current GM cringed watching the previous Knickerbockers. There were promising players on the roster (Andrew Bynum, Jeff Green, Al Thorton) but also salary-cap nightmares (Malik Rose, Bobby Simmons). With an "out with the old, in with the new" strategy, the current GM replaced troubled coach Isiah Thomas with the energetic and entertaining Pearl. And needing a true superstar in Madison Square Garden, the new GM traded a bevy of young talent (Bynum, Russel Westbrook, Eric Gordon) for former NBA Finals MVP Wade. The offseason is still young, and plenty more personnel changes are expected in the Big Apple. We will see what the offseason holds for the new Knickerbockers! The orange blazer about to shine its' presence in the Eastern Conference!

9/06/08 D. Reese reporting Monta Ellis, upon hearing of the trade to the KnicksNew York- The long-time rumor finally became reality today as New York acquired Monta Ellis by executing a three team trade with Houston and San Antonio. Among those at the press conference to meet Ellis were the Knicks' new superstar guard Dwayne Wade and 1st year coach Bruce Pearl. Coach Pearl was excited about the Wade-Ellis backcourt. "With Ellis and Wade both being able to play as combo guards, we will be able to play at a high tempo," Pearl stated. He added, "I'm excited about the athletic lineup of Ellis-Wade-Danilo Gallinari-Al Thornton, but we obviously need to find a starting quality 5 man in free agency." The Knicks traded away Jeff Green, Jordan Farmar, Darrell Arthur, Brandon Rush, and 2 1st round picks for Ellis. Wade stated, "Even though we lost lots of good young talent, it was crucial for us to require a player the caliber of Ellis to take some pressure off of me. Monta and I aim to be the best backcourt in the league and will bring excitement back to Madison Square Garden."

Hey, with recent news that Monta was injured during a motorcycle incident, do you have any concerns that his career might be in jeopardy as in the case of Jay Williams?

09/09/08 D. Reese reporting
New York- The recent news of Monta Ellis' mishap brings a small amount of concern to the Knicks, but not enough to merit any second-guessing of the new acquisition. Head coach Bruce Pearl stated, "Monta {Ellis} is still a young kid. While we do not want to hinder him from enjoying his time away from the court, we do hope he chooses to refrain from activities that could inflict any harm to his future playing career." Ellis and his agent have declined comment on the specificity of the injury, but have said he should be ready to go before the season starts.
Meanwhile, superstar Dwayne Wade is confident Ellis will return at full strength and the newly assembled tandem will become the best backcourt in the entire league. "There will not be a better backcourt this season. We are out to prove this team is not the same old Knicks of the past couple of seasons. The organization has made a commitment to me by first trading for me and then acquiring Monta. I could not be in a better situation, and welcome any challengers."
