Rank (Last) |
Team
Record
Comment
Trend

1 (5)
Jazz7-0
This team is playing phenomenal right now. There isnt much else you can say. The Jazz have run through everyone they have played, winning by an average of 13.5 points. The trio of Lebron-Amare-Hinrich have led the team so far. Look for K-Mart to pick up his game as the season progresses.

2 (1)
Hornets6-1
The 1 ranking spot drop has everything to do with Utah's hot start rather than anything the Hornets have done. We all wanted to see how the new look starting 5 would fare, and to this point it has done what was expected from them. The Hornets are going to be a contender as long as they have that CP3-Duncan combo.

3 (6)
Bucks6-1
I think we all expected Milwaukee to be good, but this good? The Bucks minor FA signings in the off-season went under the radar, but they might end up being large. Sam Cassell and Trevor Ariza have both played great off the bench in the early going and they should help with the lack of depth issue this team went through last season.

4 (8)
Raptors7-2
Canada has to be loving the start of this season as much as they love their hockey. Their beloved Raptors are off to a 7-2 start and don't show any signs of slowing down. The Raptors will stay in the top 5 all year if the team remains as is, barring any major injuries.

5 (3)
Nets7-2
The Nets GM was disappointed within the 1st few days of the season as the team was underachieving. But, the last sim showed why the Nets are contenders. They knocked off 2 tough teams in Golden State and Miami. Combine those wins along with early season victories over 2 other strong teams in the Thunder and Bucks and this team is in position for a great season.

6 (2)
Magic6-2
Shocking to see the Orlando Magic down here at the 6th spot, but let’s face it, the team has not been performing the way it should be. The Magic’s will still be a legitimate team. The team needs to find a better point guard than Alston, but other than that this team should be able to come back and prove everyone wrong and become first in the East. I see the Magic’s at least top 4 in the entire league, but for now they need to find chemistry within themselves.

7 (7)
Thunder6-2
With the season now beginning the OKC Thunder have been what everyone expected, great but not the best. The team has found there go to man and his name is Dirk. Both Shaquille O'Neal and Caron are not producing and if OKC is going to be successful, they need those two guys to step it up. I say after December 15th the team will do better because that is when Another Parker will make his presence felt in the starting rotation.

8 (10)
Mavericks5-2
Dallas is a team who has improved from last year and is living up to expectations which is great to see from a team who hard problems making the playoffs last year. The team might be a bit old but they have a winning attitude as that are now 5-2 on the season. Can they keep it up? That’s the main question.

9 (4)
Pistons2-3
What the hell is going on with Detroit lately? After losing 2 straight to the Toronto Raptors this team is struggling and needs helps fast. The GM knew that and made a deal which shocked everyone, when he traded away D-12 for Rip and Kaman. Detroit has yet to get at least 2 games in with the new team, and by the next power rankings we should know if the GM made the right move.

10 (16)
Cavaliers5-2
I never expected the Cavs to be this successful at this point in the season. They are posting great numbers (5-2) and Elton Brand is having a great season so far. Originally, I believed that this team would struggle with out a decent point guard, but I have been wrong as Beno is doing one hell of a job at the one spot and Howard, Brand and Miller are doing well for Cleveland.

11 (12)
76'ers5-3
This team is a 3rd option away from being one of the best teams in the league. A team with Agent 0, KG, and arguably the best bench in the game. Problem is they don't have anyone else, get them a 3rd option and this team could be a darkhorse come playoff time. They have the value to do it, it's just a matter of the Philly GM finding the right deal.

12 (15)
Rockets4-2
A young team is doing very well, lead by Iggy and Al Jefferson. Good bench, good scheme, and some GREAT trades this offseason have the Rockets thinking *Jim Mora Voice*"PLAYOFFS!?!?!?" after being one of the worst teams in the league last year.

13 (17)
Suns5-3
The Suns are not what they were, but somehow they are getting it done. After seeing there former GM leave town, there new GM appears to be committed to the "rebuilding movement" that the old GM started. For now they are #13 in our Rankings.

14 (13)
Warriors4-5
Golden State is an interesting team, a lot of offense and not much Defense. Lead by Deron Williams they are playing pretty well, but they could be better though. If a defensive minded 2 guard were to come to town, the Warriors may find themselves a Western Sleeper in the playoffs.

15 (14)
Trailblazers4-5
Run N' Gun, that is the story of the Blazers. Signing Devin Harris, and bringing practically the same team back have made the Blazers pretty good. Still a huge hole at center, though Diop does some things well. Portland should be poised for a pretty good year.

16 (9)
Heat3-4
This team is disappointing me right now, and who the hell uses there cap space on STEPHON MARBURY!?!?! Starbury can't even play in real life for the Knicks, I don't know how far he can take the Heat. Heat better get it together because the Washington Wizards are struggling, but only because they have people playing out of position. Charlotte and Atlanta looks better this year, and of course Orlando is there. Miami may find themselves out of the playoffs if they don't start playing ball.
