the mavericks organization would like to get Mr. Smith to play as back-up PF for Zach Randolph. Mr. Smith's balance offensive and defensive presence from the bench would most likekly help a contender and might as well complete the piece of a championship caliber team.

The New York Knicks would like to offer Craig Smith a 5 year deal worth $27,000,000.
Year 1: $5,000,000 Year 2: $5,000,000 Year 3: $5,000,000 (Team Option) Year 4: $6,000,000 Year 5: $6,000,000
Team Salaries: 2008/9: $57,073,181 (Including team options) 2009/10: $44,594,412 (Including team options) 2010/11: $37,066,944 (Including team options) 2011/12: $19,000,000 (Including team options)
The Knicks organization would love to have Smith on our team. We have drastically upgraded our talent with the additions of Dwayne Wade and Monta Ellis, but are drastically lacking in the low post. We feel Smith would be a great asset to our team and will be our starting PF or C. He is a tireless worker with tremendous potential. With the likes of Wade, Ellis, Al Thornton, and Smith, we can compete at a high level again. We have upgraded our offer to show our commitment to Smith.

Craig Smith is a great player and we would love to have him as a part of our team. Craig would either be the starting Power Forward or the starting Center. We would also like to point out that we would not be interested in trading him hence the 7 Million dollars in his 1st year.

Craig's final 2 are Chicago and Minnesota
The main reason he didnt re-sign with New Orleans is becasue he wants to become a household name and play big time minutes. Both teams give my client that opportunity.
If he had to make a decision right now, Minny would be the choice because of the money. I will give Chicago a chance to match or up the offer as bidding has not gotten out of control yet. I will give him 24 hours.

Boy this is truly a tough choice for Craig. He is getting exactly what he wants from both teams. He is getting a starting job along with good starter money. Winning is always important, but it is not essential the team win right away as Craig has already won 2 titles with the Hornets the past 2 seasons.
Nevertheless, he has decided to sign with the Bulls. He wants to grow with the other young players in Chicago. Not to mention, getting a chance to play in the city of Chicago is always a plus. We appreciate Minnesota being so interested in Craig. No hard feelings.
