with the exception of SEA and LAC, everyone else please read this.
SEA and LAC got the point and what I was trying to do with the trade.
1. Smush was going to have a low rating anyways, so I don't know why we are still using the old ratings, and last I checked real life stats effect simleague overalls of a player as well.
Smush would be a 66 instead of a 74.
2. I offered Smush to CHA, not the other way around, I wanted to trade Smush.
3. I had no interest in keeping Smush, not because of salary, but losing his salary helps, BUT BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO LOSE HIM IN FREE AGENCY AND GET NOTHING IN RETURN.
THAT IS WHAT ALL SMART GM'S DO, IF THEY KNOW A PLAYER OF VALUE WILL BECOME A FA AND HE WILL MAKE A LOT OF MONEY, WHY NOT JUST SIGN THE PLAYER AND TRADE HIM TO ANOTHER TEAM TO GET SOMETHING INSTEAD OF NOTHING IN RETUTRN.
I HOPE THE OTHER CM'S FACTOR ALL OF THAT IN, AND NOT JUST RATINGS, SO LET'S HYPOTHETICALLY SAY SOMEONE TRADES ALLEN IVERSON FOR SOME YOUNG PLAYERS AND EXPIRING CONTRACTS EVEN THOUGH HE IS RATED AN 89 AND THE OTHERS A 69.
That should be an automatic decline in the trade, but it isn't because of the potential and the cap space the team is receiving.
and one team is looking to re-build and the other to contend.
Next time when accepting a trade please factor not just ratings
1. money (cap space and others) 2. potential of player 3. contender or re-builder 4. and of course if it's fair or not that's a no brainer.
Thanks for your cooperation gentlemen, hope to talk to you soon again.

its good article but sometimes ratings is what wins a sim league you know...you can have a team with all players rated like 60 with a potential and low salaries but you can have a team with players rated +80....who would win?

But Nets, my point for making those trades was for depth purposes in the bench.
even for me it's a no brainer if it's between a 74 guy and some rookie as a starter, I'll take the 74.
but I need depth for the bench and here is where all the low salary and young guys come in.
I can have a rich starting line-up, but if I have good solid young or just good players who makes cheap money, why not have them on my bench.

yeah....I agree with the idea that when you are going to accept a trade or not you have to look at ALL things that will be involved...

I wish something like this was posted on another sim I am in. Some people (don't know of anyone here) can't look past the ratings now and only base trades off of current ratings.
