After a little less than a week in the office of the Charlotte Bobcats, GM Charles Boen has made 4 trades that he thinks will help improve his roster. We will review these step by step and get his insight into the deal. Only two have been approved mind you, but we feel there is no problem (after all the drama with the CLE deal haha) to get the other two approved.

"This wasn't really the 1st trade, I had already set up the other 3 to follow actually. I did this basically to clear the extra 3 M I needed to pick TJ Ford from DET. The 4-way deal was slow to be accepted (NOH was thinking about it) so I pulled the trigger on this. I figured I could use the cap space from the 4-way to resign Dyess. Philly won this deal but it wasn't horrible since it helped me get TJ.
Trade 2:
Cavs Get:
SF/SG Paul Pierce 89 $18,077,905/$19,976,085/$21,874,265(TO)
PG/SG Mike James 74 $6,633,480/1
SG Derek Anderson 68 $1,750,000/1
PG Jay Williams 63 $500,000/1
SF Sammy Meija 63 $500,000/1
Total: $28,261,393
Bobcats Get:
SF/SG Caron Butler 87 $8,999,980/$9,780,970/$10,561,960
PF Antoine Walker 70 $9,052,460/$9,775,280(TO)/$10,498,100
PG/SG Sarunas Jasikevicius 68 $500,000/$500,000(TO)
SG/PG Damon Jones 66 $4,456,250/1
2008 16th Overall (Raptors)
Total: $23,008,690[/b][/color]
"When I first took over I wanted to trade Pierce for a super super star like Lebron, Dwade, Melo, Bosh, Amare, or someone young to build around. When I figured out I wasn't getting one of those guys I looked at an RJ trade with Utah and a Butler trade with Cleveland. I decided on the Butler deal after DET and I decided to make the effort to bring Ford to CHA. I lost 5M in cap in this trade, which was a huge boast to help get Ford.
Just value wise in this trade I got Caron Butler, who isn't a superstar (unless you are the LAC GM ) but is a very nice younger player. I could just see him leading my new, young, up tempo team I had in my mind. Mike James had to go to help CLE want to help me clear the cap space, but had very little value to me. I did pick up my boy Walker who can play a little off the bench in my system and expires. The 16th pick was key to getting Ford as well so I thought it was a way to clear cap next year, get value for Ford (picks and cap now), and also get a nice younger player in Butler."
Note: On the last twp I didn't post and it wouldn't let me copy and paste and I didn't want to type it all out so there is the link.
Trade 3:

"This is my favorite trade of all of them, the big reward for clearing all that cap space! 3 picks for TJ Ford and a contract, can't get much better than this! I knew DET was in a tough spot and everyone was mocking him, there no way he was going to get D12 without me. Ford is a player I think is underrated, he's been hurt but he is a legit, young, up tempo PG. When I first got interested in this deal, division rival Miami was in talks with the Pistons. I really think Miami was trying to stall DET so he wouldn't get to cap space to resign Howard because Ford to Miami would have made a lot of sense. He posted about something when the DET gm left on vacation about how he "wanted to trade Kaman for a PG so he could sign D12." I knew if that happened (which if I was D12 I would have gone to Miami) that I would be double screwed. Not only would I not have Ford but Miami would another super team, and with ORL in the division that would suck.
So I took a screen shot and sent it to DET and pleaded him to talk trade with me. Before he had been blowing me off in favor or the Heat offer (which I still don't know what it was.) I promised him I would get the cap space and we could make it happen. I also said that Ford to the Cats was no threat to him, where as Ford to the Heat was. He trusted me and more than likely D12 will be a Piston next year. I don't know if anyone realizes what Ford really does for my team, with the people I get in my next trade and Butler I have a VERY good up tempo team. Ford is the guy that makes it goes and to him at that price was a huge boast for this team. One of the greatest trade I've ever made. It ranks with the Rim 3 way that got me Melo, Rim people are familiar with that."

"This was a beauty of a trade, CV31 and Crawford (the guys I was talking about in trade 3) fit in PERFECTLY with Butler and Ford. CV31 is a very good player, he just has to be the go to guy in the post (I've always wanted to try him at SF but never have gotten to) to be effective at PF. He is a defensive liability but can put up points in a hurry, shoot the ball from 3, and runs the floor very well. Him and Ford will be like Paul and West some what for this team (not as good.) They are probably the two I won't trade. Crawford should get tons of open looks (being a 4th option on this team) and he shoots the ball very well from 3! He also can run the floor and that's what we were looking for at the 2 guard."
