I made some rankings before off season started, at the end of off season I'll do another article on where every team should be in the standings via the off season.. enjoy (forgive me on some errors i made, i no i missed some)
New Orleans Hornets: I have to give a lot of respect to the team, they have won back to back championship and that’s a really hard thing to do. They have a great core of players but there is one problem, and that center position. New Orleans has traded Big Ben away, so the question is, who would play center to help Timmy? That’s the only question mark around this team. They do not have cap space to sign someone, and the only thing they can do is trade but by only using the 125% rule (unless they take less money). If New Orleans can find a true center they will be a beast in the west once again.
Seattle Supersonics: I truly believe that this team can make it to first or second place; they set some records in wins the past season with 52 and only losing 30 games. The GM has made a great team. They have a full team that can play every position, from Andre Miller to Camby this team is set in every spot, meanwhile some teams need some help in the 2nd hole or 5th hole. The team looks ready to make another run to the playoffs for sure, the question is can they beat the Hornets?
Utah Jazz: They will have a great off season because they have a lot of cap room as well they have some great players on there team. I think if Jazz has a good off season, watch out for them. All they need is a SG to help there team out, and if they can find a SG that can play with Deron, they will be a crazy team to watch. But this depends on what they do this off season. I wonder who they would go after.
Memphis Grizzlies: They have a great team, Odom, Gasol, and Raymond, this team will be a for sure a playoff team but they do need some help in the Center roll or SF, and with about 6 million in cap, they can sign a person like Davis or someone to help them in that spot. If the GM finds the right player for this team, they will beat there own record from last year which was 50 -32. Oh yeah btw with Odom in there lineup they are currently 19-8, oh man!
Phoenix Suns: The suns are doing some wired things lastly, trading Steve Nash (kid Canada). If they suns watch to kick ass this season they need have a good off season. I can see Antawn Jamison coming back, but is it worth trading Nash for it? To me I don’t think so, but that’s what I think. If he keeps Nash and signs Antawn Jamison they will be another team to watch out for. If they let Antawn Jamison walk, maybe they could sign D12? Now wouldn’t that be a nice fit, Lebron and Howard on the same team, dam that would look nice.
LA Lakers: Kobe-AI-Shaq, need I say more? This team should of won more games last season but didn’t, if they trade AI to some other team I can see a great core of players coming back to LA. It doesn’t mean they win the championship, but I think it is time to let AI or Kobe go. They have a great team that can only last one more season, AI and Kobe are both Free agents, and will demand at least 100 Million a season. Good luck to LA on signing both of them next season, but is he willing to risk it all for 1 more season?
Dallas Mavericks: Jason Kidd at point guard and Dirk in the backcourt, how in the hell are they not winning more than 44 games a season? The GM must of gone nuts, so I bet he is trying to re shape the team. If he can find a trade for Kidd or Drik, Dallas will be a great team to watch out for. The GM has done everything right but the players have not done anything to the team. If he can fine a trade this off season, watch out for Dallas, they will finish higher than they did last season which was 8th place.
Golden State Worries: Don’t get more wrong, they have a great team but trading away Davis and Lewis a few days back, it looks like they just wanted something for them before they walk away next season, and to me that was a smart move. Now they only have to worry about Marion next season to re-sign, and they also have cap space to sign some more players. The team has a good PG in Terry and a good SF or PF in Marion. The question is who will the GM want to sign to help this team?
LA Clippers: Yes the clippers will be a different team this year, hands down. They have a lot of money and a 1st overall pick, I wonder who he will take! The clippers are going to kick ass next season. Just think if they can sign Iggy, Emeka, D12, this team will look a lot different. The GM is like the hawks GM, rebuild his team one season and ready to kick butt next season.
Portland Trail Blazers: They have some money to use this off season, but the question is who do they want? Roy is by far the best player on this team, and with adding Corey Maggette to the mix, I can see big things for the Trail Blazers. If they spend there money wisely, we could see a big improvement from last year. If I remember right, he stated “next year my team will be in the playoffs”
San Antonio Spurs: This team has big problems, there best players are all free agents, what can they do! Yes they have a lot of money but around 6 players are becoming free agents, how will this team add depth to the roster? Will the GM pull off a sign and trade? The off season for the spurs will be a good one to watch.
Denver Nuggets: If they use they money right, they will be a great team. With trading away all the bad contracts there team is like a video game, where you can started all over again. With the 2nd, 6th, 10th pick they will have young team and lots of money so they can sign maybe about 2-3 key players? We will soon find out.
Houston Rockets: I love the way the team is building. They have a great young team but still have some work to do. Josh Smith will be a key re-signing in this off season. They will need to be smart on how much money they give Josh and how much money they will spend in the off season.
Sacramento Kings: They only have 1 key player and that is Deng and he’s a free agent. The kings need to get him no matter what or this team will be lost for a while. The team needs to rebuild in some parts and the GM has been trying to. This team can be a great team if they get the right players. We will see what will happen this off season.
Minnesota Timberwolves: This team is rebuilding slowly, and I wonder what they will do this off season.
New Orleans Hornets: I have to give a lot of respect to the team, they have won back to back championship and that’s a really hard thing to do.
