Center:
vs.
Ilgauskas has capped off his stellar season with the Jazz by leading the frontcourt charge with his running mate Amare. The Jazz leading scorer has on occasions led a team with the likes of Deron Williams, Amare Stoudemire, and Richard Jefferson on it. The dude hasn't really been stopped at all before, so don't look for it now from Big Ben.
Advantage: Zydrunas Ilgauskas
Power Forward:
vs.
This is a HUGE matchup to watch out for. An experienced player that dominates most games, vs. a younger, extremely explosive, offensively and athletetically gifted player. Duncan has led the Hornets attack for most of the season, and Amare has shown up to games on occasions, and though Stoudemire has found his game more in the playoffs, Duncan is still Duncan.
Advantage: Tim Duncan
Small Forward:
vs.
Millsap easily has the rebounding and lowpost advantage, but Crash has got him in just about every other stat category. The more experienced and speedier Wallace should easily take this.
Advantage: Gerald Wallace
Front Court:
If Duncan can be held to even 25 points, the Jazz might have a chance. Not much else.
Shooting Guard:
vs.
Both talented players in their own right. Jefferson is more athletic, and should get to the rim on Ginobili on most tries. The concern for Utah is if Jefferson wants to wake up any time soon. Injuries have plagued him all season, and he's never been 100%, if he is, outside of the 2 other star matchups, this one is looking to be a high scoring one.
Advantage: Richard Jefferson
Point Guard:
vs.
If you're a fan of the NBA, PG's, good matchups, or doughnuts, this is what to watch for. 2 of the youngest PG stars in the league, going at it one on one, each trying to lead their team to the next round in the playoffs, and a possible chance to win a NBAL title. Deron Williams has the size and height advantage to CP3's speed, but Deron has had struggles throughout the season, and into the playoffs, stirring trade rumors about him and a 2nd rounder going to NJ for Uncle Cliffy.
Advantage: Chris Paul
Backcourt:
Though the backcout of the defending champs hasn't really put up IMPRESSIVE numbers, they've been really consistant in anything else asked out of them so far. The Jazz backcourt is looking like a mess right now, with horrible shooting, and struggling players.
Bench:
Again, like the problem for their bench in the 1st round, the Jazz don't have any big men to guard Duncan if Amare or Big Z get into foul trouble. Fisher, Harpring, and Gibson will have to step up big time if they want to win, though that's still questionable.
Advantage: Hornets
Series Prediction: Hornets in 6
The Jazz will at least put up a fight, defending their home court for about 2 of the games before having their season end. Duncan is just too good.
Series MVP:
Duncan will just dominate, it won't be pretty. (Tell me if it really needs changing.)
