Center:
vs.
Big Z has shown he can put up numbers, but Gasol is the more dominant player. Illgauskas has the size advantage, and has some shot, as he's shown over the course of the year, but Gasol is a little too quick for Z to handle.
Advantage: Pau Gasol
Power Forward:
vs.
This should be a fun matchup to watch. Amare has too much power down low for Odom to do much against. If Odom can establish an outside game, it would help the Grizz out a lot, but if not, Amare should have control of this.
Advantage: Amare Stoudemire
Small Forward:
vs.
Experience helps out Nocioni more here. Millsap has more energy, and should get more rebounds as a natural PF, but Nocioni can take Millsap outside knocking down shots.
Advantage: Andres Nocioni
Front Court:
Size advantage goes to Utah, but when it comes to quickness, Memphis has the edge. If the Jazz can keep up with the Grizzlies, it should be trouble, but if it's a fast paced game, the Jazz are gonna run into trouble.
Shooting Guard:
vs.
R-Jeff has got more experience here. Also should be a good matchup to keep an eye on. Both guys are athletic freaks, and should be on each other the whole game. Rudy has more energy though, so that could play a factor deeper into the game.
Advantage: Richard Jefferson
Point Guard:
vs.
Rising PG's in the league, both have the ability to change the pace of the game. Deron's been struggling, but if he plays well, he will be the reason the Jazz win. Felton will have a tough assignment guarding Deron.
Advantage: Deron Williams
Backcourt:
Speed and quickness are just about equal, both teams' backcourts can cut to the rim relatively well. The size differential isn't that much either, with tall SG.
Bench:
Outside of Fisher, Harpring, and Gibson, Utah doesn't really have any bench help. On the Grizzlies bench, however, all the guys are able to contribute, Memphis easily wins this.
Advantage: Grizzlies
Series Prediction: Jazz in 7
The Jazz might be a better seed if not for a ton of injuries to key guys, if they are indeed now molded, then they should take the series, as their starters should be able to get it gone. If they can't click, then their injury-plagued season tumbles down on them.
Series MVP:
Williams should be able to score on Felton relatively easily due to his size. The team has shown that he is the star piece they are building around, and he has to show why, if not, then the Jazz are out in round 1.
FUN FACT: RUDY GAY'S MIDDLE NAME IS CARLTON.
