The Houston ChronicleJ.Holt reporting Houston- The Rockets are struggling this year and that is no lie. The way that they are constructed, they cannnot win. They dont play defense, they play no offense, and they have no leader. Their record is atrocious, and it does not seem to be getting better any time soon. They are sitting last in the Southwest Division, and have the 3rd worst record in the NBA. These are not the glory days of the Houston Rockets with Hakeem "the Dream" Olajuwon, Kenny "the Jet" Smith, Clyde "the Gylde" Drexler, Mario Elie, or Vernon Maxwell. No, these are the dark days. Attendance is at an all time low and morale is even lower This picture shows the crowd at halftime of the last game Steve Chambers Jr., a local high school history teacher says, "They suck! They need to bring in more talent. I dont go to any games because its pointless. My guys (his high school team) could take the Rockets. Ill tell you what they need: they need young stars. They need young guys with talent to build around, such as: Brandon Roy, Andrew Bogut, Rudy Gay, Yi Jianlin. Thats what they need." This team is now under new leadership. They have a new GM looking to make moves and rebuild. The previous GM had apparently gone nuts and its not hard to tell. Is this the same Houston Rockets franchise that once sported Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming? Where did those guys go? Can we bring back "the Dream", the "Jet", and "the Glyde"? Only time will tell if the Rockets can rebuild. This will be a critical offseason, and if the GM predicts correctly; one in which many moves are made.

I agree with Steve Jr. They currently need more players like "The Hidden Dragon." Good job reporting, J. Holt.

The Houston ChronicleJ. Holt So the Houston Rockets took the advice of Steve Chambers and went out and grabbed a good, young big man in Andrew Bogut. Bogut is a great addition to this team and will provide strength in the middle for times to come. Now they just need to build around Bogut in order to compete in this difficult Western Conference. This will be a young team, but will it be a successful young team? Bogut at Rocket's Press Conference The Rockets Gm has also been trying to create cap room in order to pick up key free agents. This has been extremely evident in the dealing of Rafer Alston and Quentin Richardson. I feel that the new GM has the right ideas, but this will take some time. Bogut will begin to solidify a starting lineup that will include Battier and Delonte West.

I like that you've been pretty active since you started, and getting Bogut was a good move.

The Houston ChronicleJ.Holt reporting The Houston Rockets GM has been working furiously around the clock to acquire a face for this franchise. He wants this face to be young, athletic, and someone who can make this team better. In a move tonight, the Rockets GM has agreed to a deal in principle to acquire Josh Smith. Josh Smith is a young, highflying forward who plays defense and grabs boards. This move would give the Rockets a solid young core composed of Smith, Bogut, and West. Smith will need to be resigned in the offseason, but the Rockets have the cap space and will be willing to pay Smith generiously to lead this Rockets team. Look for this Rockets team to be more competitive in the second half of this season! The High-Flying Josh Smith

The Houston Chronicle J. Holt
The Houston Rockets have been the laughing stock of NBA Legends leauge ever since the previous GM traded away T-Mac and Yao for peanuts. This team has had its share of struggles and tribulations. The team was loaded with bad contracts and even worse players. The new GM has made great strides with this team, bringing in some great talent.
Just recently, the Rockets brought in a solid point gaurd in Mike Bibby. Bibby is a solid veteran with a large expiring contract (14.5 mil). Bibby will provide instant offense for this team which has been lacking offense in the last few seasons. He will look to get his fair share of scoring while also distributing the ball to other scorers. His large expiring contract gives this Houston Rockets team some financial fliexibility in years to come. If Bibby plays up to his potential, they should resign him next year for much cheaper; but shall he struggle-they can let his contract expire and go after a big name free agent next year. In the deal for Bibby, the Rockets cleared a great deal of cap room, and currently could be looking to be one of the big spenders in next years free agency.
In other news with the Rockets, I have heard rumors of a sign and trade coming through Houston that will change the culture here in Houston. With this sign and trade, the Rockets will be competitive this year, as well as keeping sufficient salary cap space next year to land a big name in free agency.

The Houston Chronicle J. Holt Recent Rumors were true... a large sign and trade has swept its way through Houston, and will hopefully help make this Rockets team a winner. In the sign and trade, your Rockets received stunning young forward Andre Iguodala for Andrew Bogut, Luis Scola, Delonte West, and some picks. The Rockets also received young pg Jordan Farmar and another draft pick. This trade gives the Rockets three quality scorers in Mike Bibby, Andre Iguodala, and Josh Smith. This team has definitley made some strides from when this GM first took over this team. This move also sets the Rockets up with quite a bit of cap space for next years off-season. This could allow them to sign a big name free agent to bring to Houston to help this team even more. However, there is a huge hole at center this year, and not alot of cap to remedy this hole. Just a note though- your GM is working hard to help fill all these holes and make this a winning team in Houston again. Iggy is smiling at the fact that he will be paird with J-Smoove

Houston Chronicle J. Holt The Houston Rockets made another big move today and acquired two young studs at their respective postions. The Rockets GM is looking to build this team into a contender, and is looking for quality youth to do so. The Rockets traded veteran point guard Mike Bibby and young stud Josh Smith for point guard Jameer Nelson and Big Al Jefferson. When asked about this trade, the Rockets GM had this to say, "This was a big trade for us, and one that fille our obvious need for a dominant big man. With our previous lineup, we were small down low, and were not even sure who was going to play the center position. This move gives us one of the more dominant post players in the game. Al is young and talented, and will look to be paired with Iggy for a long time. Jameer also gets us younger at the point guard postion, and is already signed for the future" Once again the Rockets GM tweaks the lineup, and once again it looks like a good move. Bibby was a good answer for a short term point guard, but Jameer is the better answer long term. Jameer is younger and has a more manageable contract-which is also signed for 4 more years. Look for this combination of Jameer-Iggy-Al to be good for years to come. People in Houston are raving about having Big Al All Eyes will be on Jameer as the starting PG for the Rockets

Houston Chronicle J. Holt After securing the great young talents of Jameer Nelson, Andre Iguodala, and Al Jefferson there was still some work to be done by your GM. There were multiple holes in this lineup where those three guys werent. The GM was looking for young guys with talent in order to fill these holes. He wants to keep this team young, but talented. In the free agency period he was able to do that as signed 4 quality guys. His signees in the free agency period include Luther Head, who will start at SG for this team. Luther is young and energetic and will stretch the court with his three point shooting ability. Luther looks to light it up for the Houston Rockets this year The next big signee is Josh Childress. This young stud will be the 6th man for this team and will provide some great energy and great scoring off the bench. This team will need his scoring when Iggy or Al get in foul trouble or get tired. He is the perfect guy for the 6th man role. The Fro looks to rise above the rim in Houston The next two pickups are young big men who are needed desperately by this team. Both of these guys are young and talented, but have had some trouble making a name for themselves in the league. Hopefully these guys can find themselves in Houston around all of this other great young talent. The starting center for this team will be Kwame Brown. Kwame has tons of potential and was a very good signee for this team. Robert Swift is the other signee who will be Kwame's backup. These two guys look to anchor the middle for this Rockets team. There will not be much pressure on them to score in order to win games; but they will need to rebound and defend well. If these two get to the form which they are possible, look out for the Rockets Swift will bring an edge to this team Kwame hopes to reach his potential in Houston These free agent signings were very good for the Rockets. They were able to sign 4 solid young players in order to help this team move up out of the cellar of the league.

Houston Chronicle Yesterday there was another shakeup in the Houston Rockets lineup. This team had started off pretty hot, but then had cooled off quite a bit. The GM did not like what he had been seeing from an offensive standpoint, and he knew that something had to be done about it. He saw the need for a veteran leader who could put the ball in the hoop. The GM had heard through the grapevine that the Charlottel Bobcats were looking to trade Richard Hamilton for a package of picks and younger players, so the Rockets GM jumped on it. He acquired Rip Hamilton for Jameer Nelson, Marquis Daniels, and some draft choices. Jameer had not reached his potential thusfar in Houston, so the GM saw him as expendable. (On a side note, Jameer has now been traded again to the Detroit Pistons.) Marquis had a huge expiring contract which will help the Charlotte Bobcats. Now the Rockets have some veteran leadership on this team and a proven scorer. They have someone who has been through the playoffs and knows how to win. This experience is priceless. Rip will be the starting shooting guard of this team and will form a big three of Al, Iggy, and Rip. This deal should continue to prove that this GM is doing everything he can to get a team for Houston in the playoffs for the first time in this league. Rip is happy to play alongside a couple of young superstars

Houston Chronicle
Today was another big day for the Houston Rockets franchise. A big trade was made today that brings in veteran point guard Chauncey Billups as well as a solid PF in Chris Wilcox. These two players come at a steep cost though as Andre Iguodala, Luther Head, and Jordan Farmar are headed to New York.
When asked why this trade went down the GM expressed his desire to make the playoffs and make this team a high quality team. He sited that the fact that the Rockets are on a 3 game skid and that things had cooled down since the first month of the season. He thinks that this can be attributed to the inconsitent play at the point guard and the center position. At the point, Luther Head was playing out of his natural shooting guard position and was not making his teammates better. He was taking too many shots from this position and was not distributing the ball. In a recent loss to the Charlotte Bobcats, Head was a mere 1-9 from 3 point range. This is not the sort of play that you want from your floor general. Along with this Kwame Brown seemed to be taking way too many shots and was not doing what the GM intended when he brought him in. The GM hates to lose a great young stud like Iggy, but he too was on a bit of a skid and was not playing up to his potential.
Now to the positives of this trade. The Rockets get one of the best point guards in the league in Chauncey Billups. Billups can handle the ball, can make great passes, and can score when needed. Billups will make everyone around him better, and should be a breath of fresh air to this team in desperate need of a floor leader at the point guard position. This gives the franchise the backcourt duo of Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton. This also puts Josh Childress at the small forward position replacing Iggy. This trade not only solidifies the backcourt, but makes this front court much more formidable. Chris Wilcox will play the power forward position, and Al Jefferson will be moved to the Center position. This front court had been lacking, but now looks to be a force. Look for this team to make a push here in the next months to make the playoffs. This move makes the team better in many aspects of the game.
Now, financially this move also makes sense for the Rockets. Next year the Rockets look to resign Wilcox, but also have quite a bit of cap space in order to make a run at a high name free agent. The next year, the Rockets will resign Rip, exercise the option on Billups, have a resigned Wilcox, and have Al Jeff exercise his player option. With this roster, the team will have plenty of space to go after another free agent.
This move shows that this GM has a plan and is trying to make things work here in Houston

The Houston Chronicle Alright folks, its almost trade deadline time and the Rockets GM promised a trade.... and he delivered. This trade was a bigger trande than was expected, and it sent a wave of excitement through the city of Houston. This trade was a blockbuster and sent multiple players to new homes. In this trade, Houston sent Rip Hamilton, Chris Wilcox, and Al Jefferson to Toronto. Al will be severly missed here in Houston, but will find a great home in Toronto. Rip Hamilton will be missed, but didnt fit the mold here in Houston. He has been traded multiple times this season, but might have found a home in Toronto. Chris Wilcox has also been traded to Toronto. Chris has seemed to underacheive here in Houston, and had worn out his welcome. He was brought in to provide a bit of toughness to this team, but his numbers do not back up his perceived view. Now on to what the Rockets received: Antawn Jamison will anchor the power forward position here in Houston. He looks to turn his year around, as he started off slowly in Toronto after his big payday in free agency. Maybe a change of scenario will get this scorer going Emeka Okafor will be a solid replacement for big Al and should provide great interior defense are scoring to the Rockets OJ Mayo provides many things as the shooting guard that this team needs. This guy is a scorer and will do so for year in Houston. Look for him to make an immediate impact, especially playing beside a guy of Billups caliber Team Outlook: The Rockets traded away some talent including Al Jefferson, but they also got lots of talent back. This GM sees OJ Mayo as the future of this organization, but who is also a great player now. He sees this as an upgrade over Rip Hamilton, both in ability and contract situation. Trading for Antawn Jamison is also seen as an upgrade over Chris Wilcox. Antawn can score and rebound-two things that Wilcox was not doing here in Houston. Emeka will provide a solid interior player, but Al Jefferson will be missed. The GM hopes this lineup will put him in the playoffs this year, but the future is bright even if they fall short this year. With a young big man and an extremely talented young guard, look for this team in the future.

Well Houston... Your Rockets made the playoffs for the first time in league history, but they got severly beaten, and it has become very evident to the GM that there are changes that are necessary in order to compete. This team has some potential, but nobody expected them to get out of the first round.
The GM does not think that the team can win with the way that it is currently constructed. Our team does not play very good team defense, and has trouble scoring. Look for your GM to make plenty of moves this offseason in order to make this team a "true" contender. This team rode Chauncey Billup's back all season, and the new aquisitions ( Mayo and Jamison ) did not pull there weight. This is unacceptable in Houston, and I am dedicated to bringing winners to wear the Rockets uniform.
City of Houston - There will be winds of change sweeping through. Get on Board, or get out of the way!

Well Houston, Your GM has done it again... He has made a huge move and hopes that it will pay off for this franchise. He has acquired the best point guard in the league, Chris Paul, to lead this team. He has also acquired Yao Ming to pair with Emeka Okafor downlow. These additions still leave room for a free agent pickup, and the GM hopes that he can make a big splash in the market. This team has recognizable stars who are marketable, and with our recent playoff berth, the fans should see that this team is headed in the right direction... Just a reflection on the past, here is the roster of the team that was playing in Houston at the time of the new GM's acquisition of the team:
C- Boris Diaw/Joel Pryzbilla/Patrick O'Bryant PF- Tim Thomas/Luis Scola/Juwan Howard SF- Michael Finley/Quentin Richardson/ SG- Delonte West/Kirk Snyder/Trevor Ariza PG- Bobby Jackson/Rafer Alston
So there is our past, and the future looks bright with CP3 at the helm. Here in Houston, we cannot wait for the season to begin and see what we can do in the toughest division in NBA Legends.
