The Memphis Grizzlies think that Maurice Williams is the best free agent out there, and with a possible trade of Raymond Felton for a center on the horizon, Mo Williams will become the starting point guard for an up and coming franchise.

Offering: $40,000,000 for 5 years
1st Year: $9,000,000 2nd Year: $8,500,000 3rd Year: $8,000,000 4th Year: $7,500,000 (team option) 5th Year: $7,000,000 (team option)
Total Team Salary: 07/08: $56,440,717 08/09: $49,202,953 09/10: $26,289,771 10/11: $7,000,000
Even though we really like Louis Williams and think he will be an impact player he isn't a true point guard like Mo Williams. We would put him in the starting lineup and give us a player than can run the offense from Day 1. He will be the main cog on a young and up and coming team.

The Los Angeles Clippers would like to Offer Mo Williams a 5 year deal worth $47,000,000. We have long sought after Maurice, and now that he is available we would love to take advantage of the opportunity to get him. He will be a leader on our team and we will be trying to trade Livingston and/or Conley so their development does not stall with Maurice here. We will use them as part of a package to upgrade our team. We are building a contender and Mo will be a huge part of that contender. We will drop Paul Davis or Markota, maybe even Garrity to make room on the roster for him.

I dunno exactly how we wanna do it in this league, but with options in the deal, the deal is really only "worth" the years before any options I think. I should post this question to the commish.

it is true and that is what the player agent is to decide...it is not a very strong offer if there are team options because the player has no leverage. an offer for williams would have to be very strong to make him accept if there are going to be team options that determine the last 19 million

Obviously, guaranteed money is always better than having options but if its the right situation for the player the options really wont matter too much.

just went way out of my price range...I'll keep my offer on the table incase he would want to come to LA, but I have two good PGs, so now I just won't have to try and trade them if mo goes elsewhere. Good luck fellas.
