5 year 90 mil, I guess everyone has heard that by now, or atleast some people.
I like what the Angels are doing.
C Greg Napoli 1B Kasey Cotchman 2B Howie Kendrick SS will sign former Angel David Eckstein or former Tigers Carlos Guillen 3B Chone Figgens LF Gary Mathews JR. CF Toreii Hunter RF Vladamir Guerrero DH Garret Anderson
I like that line-up.
and the pitching got better too.
SP1: John Lackey SP2: Jared Weaver SP3: Jon Garland SP4: Kelvin Escobar SP5: Ervin Santana or Bartholo Colon
RP1: Scott Sheilds RP2: Justin Spier RP3: Colon or Santana (which ever one left out as starter
CL: Francisco Rodriguez
man I like the Angels for next year's world series, I think the Red Sox has finally met it's match in the Angels for the right to go to next year's world series.

Carlos Guillen isn't a free agent LA...
That sucks for my team(the Mariners), Bill Bavasi's a horrible GM...signing Weaver for 8mil..

Although Hunter is only a spectacular catch player. He has an average arm and will only slow down. Plus, he isn't that great an offensive player for being an outfielder. He may be consistent but he strikes out way too many times for not hitting 30+ HR's.

This signing, IMO, puts the Angels over the top. They have always had the great pitching to compete with anyone, but now they add that bat to protect Vlad that have needed forever. No offense to guys like Matthews Jr, OC, & Garret Anderson (who had a pretty good year last year), Hunter will be a lot better than those guys.
Angels have a stud SS prospect named Brandon Wood that will likely take that starting spot if they don't sign a veteran.
This signing solidifies their championship team.

They have every intent on keeping Matthews around. an everyday outfield of Matthews/Hunter/Guerrero (with Anderson rotating in from the DH spot) is as good an outfield as it gets, offensively and defensively.
Have to figure too that this is Andersons last year as an Angel...so getting Hunter now, is taking care of filling that spot now.
as well...they still plan on trying to land one of the Miggy's (Cabrera or Tejada) to play third base. It sounds like they are close to landing Cabrera.
take note JP...a winning team not just "happy with their team", but willing to improve on it.
If they can get one of the Miggy's...after adding Garland to an already good rotation, and now Hunter...there is no reason not to consider them a favorite, not only in the West, but coming out of the AL into the World Series.
