I say no. My reasoning behind it is pretty lengthy, but i will keep it short.
Ive never been in a league where it went past year 1. Not that im saying this will happen in this league, but it seems to be a challenge to get into year 2. Obviously, I want this league to succeed and go 5-10 years so don't twist my words around and think that this league will fail after year 1. Trading players for picks that are so far away isnt really healthy for a franchise neither.
I dont know what do you guys think? I dont really expect anyone to say no, because as a gm you now have more trade bait.
Just think about it

i say no because this could get very confusing, draft picks will be flying left and right and the 2009 draft is so far away its unrealistic to know what your trading for. the 2007 draft isnt even that far away for this league so i dont think its neccessary. as a GM i would love to get a pick to trade, but for the sake of this league i vote no.

I say yes and if it is thought to be to confusing by anyone else to keep track off then I will. I know in some cases it won't be a good idea for a team but a GM should have the right to trade their assets. I know I can't give many examples of leagues that do allow you to trade picks up to 3 years in advance but I know the D5 league does and they have managed to keep track of every thing and their league is one of the strongest out their. I do understand what your saying about it being more work but like I said if this does go through I'll keep track of all trades involving draft picks.
Peace. James.

I said yes because this is a simulation league, which means we try to make it as much like the NBA as we can. The NBA has no such rule of not trading picks more than 2 drafts away. That's one reason I vote yes anyway. I just feel that if both sides know what they are doing, and know what they are getting, it shouldn't be a problem.

I say no becuase of the same reasons already posted. Keeping track actaully is the problem, I've been in several leauges and in every leauge at least one GM's draft picks have been all screwed up. This usually happens by a GM that trades picks, then becomes inactive, replaced by another GM, his draft picks are gone, but doesn't know it and still tries to draft, so on and on, causing a lot of confusion.

I know Cleveland is the first one to say it is because of keeping track of things...So weak GM's and weak leadership in some point would be the real problem behind that. For your reasoning, we shouldn't trade any draft picks. If there is a thread for each draft showing the picks for each team, or for each team showing the picks in each draft, this wouldn't be a problem.
Please don't think that I just said the leadership of this particular league is weak, because I didn't say that.

No, don't want the picks to go too far ahead of the season. 2-3 years is fine.

I say yes. Three years ahead is what most leagues do but they use the NBA rule that a team can't go consecutive years without trading a pick (unless penalized of course). So you should be able to trade your first in 07 and 09 but not 08. The trade stips can get hairy but the NBA stips are much worse. Although I assume you mean more than three years ahead and I say no to that.
