With 3 teams that are now waiting for the Miami - Milwaukee series to end, its time to look at a little preview in both conference finals
West:
Phoenix(#1) vs. New Orleans(#2)
----This is it, the time to determine which team is best in the west. I know everyone is waiting for this matchup to come and i too am very excited to watch this series. this will be a highly fast paced game with two teams trying to outrun each other and tiring out their opponents but there is one thing that separates them. The Phoenix Suns depend on their outside shooting which really has never failed them in the past while the New Orleans Hornets always drives to the rim with high percentage shots. This two teams have weaknesses that both can take advantage of. The Suns are weak in the post when it comes to defense and will definitely have a hard time with Duncan and Wallace while the Hornets on the other hand doesn't have that consistency on their 3-point shooting and they dont have that great perimeter defender so what im trying to say is this series will be an unpredictable one on who will win the west.
this is my analysis on the teams:
Point Guard:
Steve Nash vs. Chris Paul
----Its experience versus youth in this matchup. Nash has the experience which is a plus when it comes down clutch situations and he is a player that really does never tire out while Paul on the other hand has the youth and athleticism in a player but this is his first time playing in the playoffs.
who gets the edge? Phoenix Suns
Shooting Guard:
Raja Bell vs. Manu Ginobili
----Raja maybe is one of the best one-on-one defender in the league but in the previous games against San Antonio in the 2006 season, he had real trouble dealing with the unorthodox style of Manu Ginobili who can pass, drive to the hoop and shoot the 3. also add the fact that Manu is left-handed which makes it a lot harder for Bell to defend him.
who gets the edge? New Orleans Hornets
Small Forward:
Boris Diaw vs. Gerald Wallace
----Diaw is one of those players who can do everything on the court, he can shoot, rebound, pass, handle the ball, post-up and defend that is why he makes it hard for defenders to defend him cause he is a guard in a forward's body in order for Gerald Wallace to keep up with him, he has to be able to run everytime he steps on the floor and be able to know what he is going to do next.
who gets the edge? Phoenix Suns
Power Forward:
Shawn Marion vs. Tim Duncan
----Shawn Marion is a fast paced player who can shoot the three and post up every time he gets on the floor but with his thin-framed body he will have trouble posting up Duncan who will score at will everytime he has the ball in his hands and has proven that when the Suns faced the Spurs in the 2005 Western Conference Finals.
who gets the edge? New Orleans Hornets
Center:
Amare Stoudemire vs. Ben Wallace
----Ben Wallace might be the best low post defender since Dikembe Mutombo and he will have the job of containing the explosive Stoudemire who has shown in the past that no one can stop him. Stoudemire is a player who can beat smaller defenders in the post and is quicker against most centers in the league. We have to put in mind that Wallace is getting older so we dont know how he can contain the young and athletic Stoudemire.
who gets the edge? Phoenix Suns
Bench:
Phoenix Bench vs. New Orleans Bench
----The Hornets had a major overhaul of their roster this season and they just didnt focus on the starters they also traded for better bench players. The hornets have a deep bench with a mix of youth and veterans which has really helped during the season. On the other hand, the suns only have 2 or 3 good players on their bench so they have to make sure their starters stay healthy to be able to compete.
who gets the edge? New Orleans Hornets
As you can see, its a tie so we never really know who will come out victorious. we dont know if it will go 7 or 6 might even come out as a sweep so im really excited about this matchup so good luck to both teams.
