Okay, the 1st round is almost over and a lot of things happened which surprised some of the gms and a lot of things that went as predicted.
lets start with the eastern conference:
Detroit vs. Washington (DET WINS 4 - 1)
----This series was predicted to be either a 5 game series or a sweep and it did. the pistons showed that they are still one of the best teams to beat and will be ready for the second round. the wizards managed to win at least 1 game in the series, so they managed to keep some of their pride and will have to work a lot this offseason to be able to be in the playoff race next season.
Miami vs. Atlanta (MIA WINS 4 - 0)
----This went through as predicted. The Hawks had no answer for Channing Frye, Peja and of course, Dwyane Wade. They would have to make some roster changes this season to acquire a true PF to be able to compete in the playoffs. The Heat has shown that they can play without Shaq on their team and its because of their team work and thats the reason why they are going to the 2nd round.
Milwaukee vs. Chicago (MIL WINS 4 - 2)
----This series was a very good series imo. a lot of blowouts and a very competitive atmosphere for both teams. With Yao Ming stepping up for the Bucks, the bull had a very hard time containing him. The bulls have to work hard this season to find the frontcourt depth they desperately need and find that point guard that can lead the team. The bucks are looking ready to face the Heat in the 2nd round and this will be an exciting matchup to watch.
New Jersey vs. Cleveland (NJ WINS 4 - 1)
----This is a series where a lot gms thought it was gonna be a sweep or a 5 game series. well, it was a 5 game series but the victor turned out to be the one that was doubted to even be in the playoffs. The Nets made a surprising run in the 1st round with Ron Artest shutting down Lebron James and holding him down to 15 points or less. they have shown that they can play, that's why they need to step up in the 2nd round. The Cavs now know that Lebron cant win it all for them thats why the management must find the perfect role players that Lebron needs if they want to win.
And now for the West:
Phoenix vs. Denver (PHX WINS 4 - 1)
----Well i really dont need much explanation here but, Phoenix did their thing and ate the Nuggets alive. The Nuggets won 1 game in the series but i think the Suns let them win a game so they could play more basketball for fun. The Nuggets have this young core in their team and they look like a team to beat in coming years but they have to add that playoff experience in their roster to be able to compete in the playoffs.
New Orleans vs. San Antonio (NO WINS 4 - 0)
----This is a series that was pretty much over when it went 2 - 0 and the Spurs didnt have an answer for their former superstar, Tim Duncan and surprising player, Earl Boykins, who stepped up big time for the hornets with Chris Paul injured for the rest of the season. The Spurs will have to find the frontcourt help they need. they already have Camby but they also need a scorer in the low post and Abdur Rahim isnt really good at that.
LA Lakers vs. Dallas (SERIES TIED 3 - 3)
----One of the most exciting series thus far. The Lakers are showing that they are back in the playoffs and they will be staying here. The Dallas Mavericks who had a slow start in the series are now looking like a playoff team again and will be looking to Dirk to lead them to the 2nd rnd. but with Jason Terry not on their team anymore, the mavs will have a hard time doing this. This will be a game to watch for the Hornets as they look at who they will be facing in the 2nd round.
Golden State vs. Minnesota (SERIES TIED 3 - 3)
----Predicted to be a 7 game series, the warriors and twolves did not dissapoint. this is an exciting series with a lot of Talent and Heart shown by both teams who have returned to the playoffs. Im looking forward to seeing who will prevail and be able to make a solid playoff run. good luck to both teams
there you have it, the 1st round of the playoffs. i'm looking forward to watching the 2nd round.
