PLEASE TELL ME HOW ON EARTH DOES OU JUMP OVER TEXAS, so from now on I guess HEAD-TO-HEAD MEANS NOTHING.
so if USC (hypothetical not reality) loses to UCLA they should still go to the ROSE BOWL instead of Ore. St.
I mean that's how the system works right?
I know that OU beat TCU AND CINCY but come on Texas BEAT AND I MEAN BEAT OU, and would have been undefeated if it was not for a fluke play by Crabtree and T-Tech.
I am not a UT fan, I AM A USC fan, but come on the hypocrites known as the BROKEN COMPUTER SYSTEM is just amazing, just amazing.
you know what's the BEST IDEA, we know these PROFESSORS AND MONEY HUNGRY CLOWNS will never agree to a PLAYOFF, so best case scenario
+1 in a dif. way.
have the BOWL SYSTEM, have all 6 BCS conf play in Fiesta, Sugar, Rose, and Orange Bowls.
and the BEST 2 teams from that plays for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONCHIP.

It's better than a coin toss, and that would be the tiebreaker in Highschool football (at least in Texas.) Not saying your wrong, I'd rather have Texas in it too but still better than a coin toss.

The BCS isnt the only problem here, it's the Big 12 as well.
The splitting of conferences is a good idea, but it comes back to bite you in the ass when one half has three one-loss teams and the best the other half can put up is Missouri.
In a perfect world, the Big 12 would step in and put up Texas and Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game. But... then theres Texas Tech.
It is ridiculous though. I keep rooting for these kind of things to happen though, because hopefully the more atrocious the system becomes, the more likely it is to garner a playoff someday. But i can't see how it can become much more atrocious than this.
Hopefully Missouri pulls an upset and justice will be served.
And LA, that system wouldn't work. There would still be doubt on who should be the best 2.
An 8 team playoff is the only way, and not based on conferences, because no team from the Big East deserves to be in any postseason anything lol. And thats coming from a Rutgers fan. I want to see cinderella stories, the Boise State's (featuring Piscataways own Kyle Wilson), and the Utah's. And that playoff is the only way any of them would show up in a National Title Game.

I think there should be a 12 or 16 team playoff to give a chance to the TCU's of the world since they would have to be undefeated to have a chance at the top 8. Also, what if Penn State beats USC? Does that mean they are better than Texas Tech, Boise State, Utah, and other teams ahead of them?

I would like to see a 16 team playoff (giving the Ball Stats a chance too) and have bowl games for the rest of the teams that are 2 games over .500 (no teams that are 6-6 crap). The way this system is set up now their can always be an argument that this one loss team that didn't play for the championship could have beaten the one loss team that won it. I'll admit I am a Penn State fan so I will also support USC in saying I don't think it should hurt them to lose a fluke game like they both did when you consider if Florida beats Alabama they'll be in the title game after losing a similar style fluke game. Plus to bring up what LA said on OU jumping past Texas (even though Texas beat OU) If their was a playoff that wouldn't matter as much. Sure Texas would be slightly upset about not playing for the conference championship but it wouldn't matter since they would still have a shot at the National Championship. (Sorry for the long crazy rant but I agree with JoePa, who has been pushing for a playoff system for the past 20 years).

I think every true college football fan wants a playoff... if we had an 8 team playoff, just look at these matchups:
(With AP Top 25, because i agree with their rankings) (Note: The USA Today Poll also put Oklahoma ahead of Texas, and thats part of what the BCS takes an average from. So, there are still people who don't really think out there).
1 Alabama vs. 8 Texas Tech 4 Oklahoma vs. 5 USC 3 Texas vs. 6 Penn State 2 Florida vs. 7 Utah
Boise State gets left out, but in an 8 team playoff, which is the most likely thing to happen if there was a playoff, because football is not a sport meant for a long-term postseason, especially at the college level.
