After being blown out by A superior Milwaukee Bucks team in Charlotte, the young upstart Bobcats scored 39 more points in Boston to beat the Celtics 105-104. "This was a statement game for us, and that is how we want to play" said GM Charles Boen. "When TJ Ford puts up the kind of stats he did last night (20/10) we are going to be tough to stop."
The way Boen built this team was to out score people, he knew coming to Charlotte that there was no way he could compete with some of the elite teams in the East in a 2-way game this year. Scoring is something that can either be on or off on any given night, and when the Bobcats are on no one should take them lightly. "You usually shoot better in your own gym, that's why our goal is to win every game at home. Obviously we lost to the Bucks at home, but there a dang good team. I was proud of the way we went to Boston without Jeff Green and beat the Celtics playing our style of ball."
Charlie Villanueva scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, while Jason Thompson scored 17 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and blocked 3 shots. "CV did exactly what we brought him into to do, and that is to be our post option and out athlete the other teams 4. He shot a nice % from the field (56%) and helped out on the glass. I was so proud of the way Thompson has played in both games, being that force on the glass and blocking shots. Thompson gives us the only defense we really have and hopefully he will be in the running for ROY." Ben Gordon lead the Kats in scoring with 24 points.
Jeff Green was injured in the Milwaukee game and will be out 11 days, that will put Jamal Crawford in the game at the 3. This should be interesting to see, and that is a lot of shooting with Gordon and Crawford on the floor at the same time. This would mean the only backup guard the Bobcats have is Charlie Bell so we should see a PG added soon. Stay tuned Bobcats fan but this season looks like it could be fun, though playoffs is unlikely.
