The Orlando Magic have come to terms with the Phoenix Suns on a sign and trade deal for Jameer Nelson, DeShawn Stevenson and Al Jefferson. Al is the last of the three to be signed. Here is where things get trickier...due to the terms of the trade, the following offer will be legal/under Phoenix' cap room. However, as it stands now, neither of us has the cap space individually to resign him. If you would like the exact terms of the deal with expected salary for Big Al, then that is completely understandeable. With that being said our offer is as follows:
Year 1: $14,500,000 Year 2: $15,000,000 Year 3: $16,000,000 (Player Option) Year 4: $17,000,000 (Player Option)
Four year, 61.5 million dollar offer.
We feel that this is a very good offer for a talent like Big Al. Jamison was just signed for 13 million and Al is slightly better, which explains this offer of more money every year. David West earns around 9/10 million per year and even Yao is only signed at 500k more in the first year. Al will be the starting PF on the Phoenix team and will play alongside other star talents like Jamison and Melo.

We appreciate the player agent's patience in this matter and would like our bid to re-open for Big Al. The trade is still in place but we will be using our cap situation for his contract and we have just given up several nice talents, Baron and Stack, to clear the room.

Money-wise it's there, and Al would love to go to Phoenix to pair with a young superstar like Carmelo, but instead of a player option the 4th year, he would like to see it in the 3rd year. Al thinks he can still improve, and if he feels he can be worth more money, he would like to be able to opt out a year sooner.

Offer modified with one better, we offer Al TWO player options for the final two years of his deal. We thank him very much for his consideration and wish him the best of luck in Phoenix
