*DISCLAIMER:
Boston from D5 gave me this idea & I am giving him credit where credit is due. Some of what he used on his forum is what we are using here. So, I will be taking a lot of his posted info and be bringing it over here. Obviously, the main difference is that they use hoopshype screen shots over there & we use storytellers screen shots here.
*The following explains in-depth on how to construct your salary chart correctly.
As a NBA Legends General Manager it's important for you to have a correct salary chart, no one wants to make a trade with you only to discover the process is blocked because you have displayed incorrect information. You also wont be able to re-sign players or be active in free agency unless your salary details are correct. We will be very strict about this & there will be no bending of the rules for anyone. This thread explains how to construct your salary chart.
Step 1 | Finding Your Players
NBA Legends has been around for awhile now. Since then there have been lots of trades and players have ended up on completely different teams. Fortunately, the toughest thing about completing your salary chart will be to find them in our list of teams shown below. It's important to note that you will be looking for the team which the player played for when NBA Legends started, which was in July of 2007. Information regarding which team that player played for around that time can be found from any good website such as NBA.com's Player Profiles or by asking me. PM me with any questions.
REMINDER - DO NOT USE HOOPSHYPE
IMPORTANT - The following screen shots were updated last on July 4th 2007. Any extension signed in real life after that date will not count for this league.
Storytellers Contracts Site Key (Important):
Team Options - Gray
Player Options - Beige

Step 2 | Constructing Your Salary Chart
Once you've found each of your players, it's then important to display them properly. Just take a look at how other teams have displayed their salary threads as a reference. The following 3 are great to refer to. (Oklahoma City | Utah | Atlanta)
It is important to include:
*The salary for each player for every year that they're contracted.
*Your team's total salary (which you must compute yourself with a calculator, or in your head if you're a REALLY good GM!).
Step 3 | How To Deal With Player Options, Team Options, & Qualifying Offers
Your players contracts are not always just simply comprised of their salary, they can also contain different types of contractual options.
If one of your players has a Team Option (highlighted in gray in the screen shot) in one of their contract years you must include this information in your salary chart by coloring that year's contract in red numbering.
VERY IMPORTANT - All player options (highlighted in beige in the screen shot) are to be converted into team options.
VERY IMPORTANT - All qualifying offers (highlighted in yellow in the screen shot) should be eliminated completely. We will not be using qualifying offers at all in this league. Posting them will falsify your players actual contract and could cause confusion when it comes to free agency.
-----------------------------
The only players that will have Player Options in their contracts in this league are those who have been re-signed by our own GMs after the league began. If that has happened then you'll need to include a Player Option in your salary chart and denote it by coloring that year's contract in blue numbering in your salary chart.
LEAGUE WIDE KEY: (Mandatory)
Team Options = Red
Player Options = Blue
Step 4 | Final Touches
So hopefully I explained it all properly, you've understood and everything is in order! But if you have any problems please don't hesitate to PM me or any other staff member, we're all able to help.
