1. Chicago Bulls: PF Blake Griffin:
This pick is an easy pick as Blake is still the most talented player in this draft class despite his real life struggles. With Conley and Love, it makes you question whether they would be able to trade anybody else anyway, but they have to draft Griffin. He's obviously the best player in this draft.
Spects:
# Height/Weight: 6-10 / 251
# Birthdate: March 16, 1989
# College: Oklahoma
2. Sacramento Kings: PG Tyreke Evans:
This pick is a pretty common pick among the rest of us as well. The Kings have Jarrett Jack at PG right now and are looking to upgrade that with the best rookie in the Real Life NBA. He's averaging around 20.3 PPG in real life and has shown signs of improving in every game. I'm utterly impressed and will be shocked if the Kings do not select Evans.
Spects: #
# Height/Weight: 6-6 / 220
# Birthdate: September 19, 1989
# College: Memphis
3. San Antonio Spurs: PG Brandon Jennings:
It was no secret to many of you that I really did want Ricky Rubio, however, with Rubio not coming out. I will have to select the second best player and that would be the sharpshooter Brandon Jennings. He has shown signs of improvement despite the fact that the Bucks are getting players back. This will give my Spurs something to build around, and pretty much says the end of Felton's career in San Antonio. Reminds me a lot of Allen Iverson
Spects:
* Height/Weight: 6-1 / 169
* College: Lottomatica Virtus Roma (Italy)
4. Los Angeles Clippers: James Harden G
This pick is a pick that will be the key to the draft. The Clippers could go with a PG here and draft Curry or Flynn, but they choose to take the best available player at this spot and take Harden. They get a player who has shown some serious signs of improving in the past few weeks and will light it up when given the chance to start for a young Thunder team.
Spects:
# Height/Weight: 6-5 / 220
# Birthdate: August 26, 1989
# College: Arizona State
5. Sacramento Kings: Hasheem Thabeet C:
This pick is more of a stretch but the Kings have said to me that they need to draft a big man, and I really don’t see anybody else having a Big Man available here. They could draft another PG or Demar Derozan but that just does not make sense for the organization. Thabeet has shown signs of improving in real life and would help out a pretty bad Front Court and will most likely start immediately.
Spects:
# Height/Weight: 7-3/263
# Birthdate: February 16, 1987
# College: Connecticut
6. Indiana Pacers: G/F Demar Derozan
This pick is the best pick for them as they already have two PG’s on the roster(which one of which I see being dealt, most likely Westbrook.) They need some explosive athleticism to run with Rondo and Derozan can truly do that for a team. I see this pick as probably the best value pick in the draft besides that of The Kings getting Evans.
Spects:
# Height/Weight: 6-7 / 220
# Birthdate: August 7, 1989
# College: Southern California
7. Charlotte Bobcats via New York: G Stephen Curry
This pick doesn’t make a lot of sense for the Bobcats but they have to draft what they feel is best for their team. I’ve heard rumors that they wanted Thabeet but they won’t be able to trade up to get him. Curry is the 2nd best player for them though as Mo Williams, as I’ve heard, is on the trade block.
Spects:
# Height/Weight: 6-3 / 185
# Birthdate: March 14, 1988
# College: Davidson
8. San Antonio Spurs via Minnesota: PG Jonny Flynn:
Flynn is the best available player in the draft at this point, so I most likely look for that. I don’t expect Flynn to stay long as it’ll most likely be a trade to get me more talent. I want to really deal out of this pick myself but I don’t see any way of getting the Value that I want.
Spects:
# Height/Weight: 6-0 / 185
# Birthdate: February 6, 1989
# College: Syracuse
9. Los Angeles Lakers: G/F Terrence Williams
This pick is the most logical for the Lakers who will need a rookie to contribute a little bit either starting or off the bench. Terrence Williams adds athleticism and has outstanding court-vision which will benefit Kobe.
Spects:# Height/Weight: 6-6 / 220
# Birthdate: June 28, 1987
# College: Louisville
10. Charlotte Bobcats: PF Psycho Tyler Hansborough
I know the Bobcats GM, Charles, and I know his love for the UNC Tar Heels. If he keeps this pick, I expect him to go with a Tar Heel. Hansborough gives him the best player available at this point. Hansborough is performing in real life and will continue to contribute while Granger is out.
Spects:# Height/Weight: 6-9 / 250
# Birthdate: November 3, 1985
# College: North Carolina
11. Golden State Warriors: G Gerald Henderson
With no legit centers available, the Warriors take the best player off of the board and they go with a very talented and athletic Gerald Henderson. The Warriors are one of the more talented teams and if they can go out and get a C in this off season I see them competing for something next year in the West.
Spects:# Height/Weight: 6-4 / 215
# Birthdate: December 7, 1987
# College: Duke
12. Atlanta Hawks F Omri Casspii.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/.element/img/1.1/sect/draft2009/profiles/headshots/116.jpg
[/img]
This pick is more or less what the Israeli is doing in real life. Casspi is playing his heart out for the Kings and will be benefitted here in our league by being able to be a lottery pick. The Hawks need a big man who can compete and score. This move allows him to either come off of the bench or allows the Hawks to move away Harrington and start Casspi.
Spects:# Height/Weight: 6-9 / 225
# Birthdate: June 22, 1988
# College: Maccabi Tel Aviv
13. Sacramento Kings via Detroit: PF Jordan Hill
With everybody else forgetting about Jordan Hill, the Kings luck into getting a potential starting Big Man. He has not played extremely well for the Knicks, in real life, but is not getting the minutes that some would like to see from him. Not to mention that he is currently hurt.
Spects:# Height/Weight: 6-10 / 235
# Birthdate: July 27, 1987
# College: Arizona
14. San Antonio Spurs via Boston: SF/G Austin Daye:
This pick gives me a player that I truly like. I could potentially do a lot of things with Daye, so expect to see me go with Daye if he’s available at 14. He’s doing a lot of things in a few minutes for the Pistons this year and will be a future good player.
Spects:
# Height/Weight: 6-11 / 200
# Birthdate: June 5, 1988
# College: Gonzaga
Expect to see some trades however, so this draft is just a MOCK draft. Evaluate how you think guys. Just remember that I am a journalism major:(.
