I don't see how it is assumed they were promised the starting job for the whole year...I probably will start Swift the whole year, but all I promised him was a starting gig. he's got it. If he plays poorly and I go find a better rated Center, it would be his fault he lost the job. And in my opinion, since I gave him the starting job, I fulfilled my promise already.

I guess I should have made things more clear when we decided to do the promises this off-season. I guess we can take a vote? Maybe if you start a player for a certain amount of games, the promise is fulfilled?

BTW, this is really just kinda arguing the rules principal. I anticipate starting Stromile this season, and I know the rule says I just have to start him at least half of the games (make note of that Chicago), so I'm not really arguing that intensely about my personal promise to Swift. I guess it's an interpretation thing.
I understand the reason for the rule, and I do like it mostly. In real life, if you promise a player a starting gig, and he completely sucks unexpectedly, you would not be penalized for benching him and/or finding someone better.

Yea your rule says they have to start at least half the season...though I kinda would prefer something like 1/4 of the season. I dunno, a vote wouldn't be bad, I love voting (plus it makes everyone be even a little more active, at least for a little while lol).
like I said, I like the idea of the rule, but if the player wanted someone to promise them the starting gig for the WHOLE season, as opposed to just the starting gig to start the season, and then be expected to perform at a starter's level from there on, the player (and/or agent) should have asked for that promise.
