With the season approaching, I thought it would be pretty cool to rank each positions top 10 players based off of how they do in sim leagues. I will be releasing a different position each day.
The Top 10:
1. Tim Duncan (NOH) - Duncan is an MVP candidate every season and he has helped his team win back to back championships the last 2 seasons. I dont think anyone can argue the fact that he is THE best sim league player.
2. Dirk Nowitzki (OKC) - This German import can do it inside and out and that is one of the main reasons why he's a great player. The match up problems he creates are always advantageous to whichever team he is playing for. Dirk is good for 23 and 10 every night.
3. Kevin Garnett (PHI) - He won the MVP in season 1 and he won the DPOY in season 2. His well rounded skills make him an MVP candidate every year as well. Even if his team is struggling, he will still play with all out heart and energy. The guy inspires.
4. Dwight Howard (DET) - The man child is just getting his feet wet as he had his 1st big season in sims last year. Look for more 20, 10 , and 2.5 blocks seasons from Dwight.
5. Steve Nash (NJN) - Simply put, he is the best little man in a big mans game. NBA Live is notorious for big men dominating but Nash says "Screw you NBA Live." He is good for 22 and 7 assists (which are impossible to come by in simulations) on any given night.
6. Elton Brand (CLE) - Just call him Mr. Steady. He is the quiet assassin. He puts up 20 and 10 every year and its probably the most silent 20 and 10 out there.
7. Yao Ming (ORL) - The Beast from the far east has been 1 superstar that just cant seem to stay on 1 team. It seems like he is traded 2 or 3 times in a season which is un heard of for a star of his caliber. I guess you can look at it as a good thing. Teams do have to want you when they are trading for you. Yao is the best offensive center in NBA Live.
8. Deron Williams (GSW) - D Wills led the league in assists last year and that is only the beginning for this talented young PG. He is now on a run and gun team in GSW so look for him to flourish in that system this season. Expect an MVP type season from him.
9. Mehmet Okur (NJN) - You are probably thinking, why in the world is Mehmet Okur in the top 10? Well, stats don't lie and he is a monster when it comes to simulations. He is consistently a top 2 or 3 center each year and he shows no signs of slowing down.
10. Jason Terry (ORL) - The JET is an explosive guard and when he gets things going, he dominates games. For almost all the year last year, he led the league in 3 of the 5 major categories. He led in PPG, APG, & SPG. Only a late season injury slowed him down. Who knows, if he hadn't got hurt, we could have possibly see him as the MVP.
The Best Of The Rest:
11. Tony Parker (MIL)
12. Allen Iverson (LAL)
13. Baron Davis (TOR)
14. Kobe Bryant (LAL)
