What do you guys think? I have gotten a few requests saying we should have private bidding. I myself am a believer in the public bidding.
Thoughts?
Everyone please vote and give a simple explanation on why you think 1 is better than the other.

i think you should do public bidding so you know what you are up against.... know who you are competing against for the free agent

I've been a victim of losing FA's to private bidding because the PA didn't reply to me, and PM's can get complicated, so it'd be easier with public.

im intised to say private bidding just because its funner not to know what your going agianst, plus that makes it more real, so yeah im going to go with private bidding
and to utah I think we have a good enough pool of player agents that they will all respond to offers

Just hard to keep track of everything, especially with trade offers thrown in.

Personally I'd rather do public but if we do end up having it private I don't think it will get out of hand because we had the extension period so their isn't a lot of big name FA available

Personally, I really loved the private bidding such as in D5, so I voted for private
But, if we employ the player agent system in public bidding, then it would be fine aswell... just something new for me with player agents + public bidding

I vote for private bidding. It's much more realistic since you don't know what you're going up against and will limit lowball offers.

I like public bidding. Say I offer a fair contract at 5,000,000 to a player but someone else thinks the fair price is like 5,250,000. If we have similar team situations I don't even get a chance to put up another measly 500,000.
I think the player agent, or the bidders, or even OKC need to kind of have a point where it's obvious a player is just getting too much money, and if both teams end up offering like 10,500,000 just say, ok no more upping of the bid, we'll decide which situation is better for the player and obviously the money isn't an issue anymore.
But I'd like to know what the bids are.
Also keeps people from just throwing up huge bids to try and make sure they beat everyone. Yea you should make sure you give the player what he's worth, but if I'm pretty sure a guy will get around 5 million, and I just REALLY want him for whatever reason, I might just put out like 8 million to try and make sure I get him.
I'd rather be able to make sure that other people aren't only at 5 or 6 million and not waste those extra 2 or 3 million.
Anyway I like public.

Public Bidding is better...IMO its funnier to know who is against u, and u will always receive an answer for ur offer...sometimes the PA doesnt respond when u PM him in a private bidding...

So... the only thing holding back private bidding are player agents?

Public Bidding will also lead to ridiculous bidding wars on players and unrealistic contracts...IMO

yeh unless the agents can keep the bidding situation fair then public bidding is great, because you dont want players getting un-realistic contracts, takes the whole feel of a simulation away because a for e.g. calderon could get like 15mil a year because some1 really wanted him when really he should go for closer to 10 but no id prefer public bidding
