The Nets made two moves that completed their starting lineup making them one of the top teams in the East...lets see what happened:
The New Jersey Nets trades:
Josh Howard |87 --9,945,000--10,890,000--11,835,000
Total Outcoming: $9,945,000
Total Incoming: $14,500,000
To the Miami Heat for:
Vince Carter-89--$14,500,000-- $16,500,000(TO) -- $18,500,000(PO)
Total Outcoming: $14,500,000
Total Incoming: 9,945,000
--------------------------------
The Nets traded Josh Howard who might have a good salary and is a great young player, but they got VC who now is better and is a true SG, and thats what the Nets needed before the deal, so they would have all their players playing in their right position.
[blue]The New Jersey Nets trades:
Rafer Alston |74 --$4,900,000---$5,250,000
Quentin Richardson |72 --$8,685,500---[red]$8,700,000[/red]
Rashad McCants | 71--[red]$2,620,126[/red]
Sacramento's 1st round pick = 3rd overall pick
Houston's 2nd rounder
LA Lakers's 2nd rounder
Total Outcoming: $16,205,626
TotalIncoming = $13,250,000[/blue]
[orange]to the Phoenix Suns for:
Steve Nash-86--$12,250,000--$13,125,000
Melvin Ely-65--$500,000--$500,000--$500,000
Ronnie Price-65-$500,000--$500,000--$500,000--$500,000
Total Incoming: $16,205,626
Total Outcoming = $13,250,000[/orange]
-----------------
That was maybe one of the best trade for the Nets GM...why? because:
1st: The Nets GM just got his favorite player Steve Nash
2nd: One of the main factors that caused the Nets loss in the playoffs was their weak PG...getting Nash makes then so much stronger that they can now go against any team and have great chances of victory.
3rd: The Nets want to win noww, so keeping Mayo wouldnt be a good idea for that team, although Mayo might turn into a great player in the future.
So as we can see getting Nash was one of the most important deal for that GM.
Bruce Bowen| 70 ---$1,300,000--$1,800,000---$2,200,000---$2,200,000---$2,500,000
Steve Francis | 70 ---$1,000,000---$1,200,000---$1,700,000---$2,200,000---$2,700,000
Bonzi Wells | 72---900,000---1,400,000---1,900,000---2,400,000---2,900,000
Anthony Johnson | 70--500,000--$1,000,000---$1,000,000---$1,500,000---$1,000,000
Cliff Robinson(resigned) | 65 --$500,000--$1,000,000---[blue]$1,000,000[/blue]
The Nets really improved their bench by signing Bruce Bowen, who is a great defender, Steve Francis who can still do sick things, Bonzi wells who might be aging but is still playing good, Anthony Johnson who has a nice experience and by resigning their favorite bench player who was a monster in the 06/07 playoffs, Uncle Cliffy.
