*Basic Rules:
You may only offer contract extensions to players after the NBA Finals have been simmed and before free agency starts. This will be a 1-2 week period. You will be notified a few days in advance on when the deadline is. Contract extensions may only be offered to players who are free agents at the end of the season (expiring contracts). Also, you may only offer an extension if your salary chart is up to date and has been checked out by the salary czar or myself.
*Salary Rules/Cap issues:
The Max contract you can offer your player during the extension period is a 4 year deal. No signing must take the player's team above the 2009-10 salary cap ($70,000,000) for the first year of their player's contract. Also, since a signing must not take your team over the salary cap, you may only re-sign one player at a time. If you're posting a host of new contract extensions around the deadline you may do so, but please indicate in which order you wish to re-sign your players.
The same rules as free agency apply for backloading contracts.
1st year of contract is $2,500,000 or less | The max raise allowed is $500,000
1st year of contract is $2,500,001 to $6,000,000 | The max raise allowed is $1,000,000
1st year of contract is $6,000,001 or more | The max raise allowed is $2,000,000
Note: There is no penalty for a frontloaded contract (Decreasing Salaries)
*How To Post An Offer:
Firstly, create a new thread in the Submit New Contract Extension section with the player's name as the threads title. Secondly, when posting an offer please include the player's name, overall rating and their current salary written in full six figures ($000,000). Also, please post the salary you are offering your player ($000,000) and your team's projected salary for the year or years you wish to extend him. You may add any player options or team options with your offer.
Tip: To begin with it will be beneficial for your team to offer a low amount that you think your player (and his agent) will accept. Do not immediately offer your player the largest possible contract because it may be that you can re-sign him for less.

*After You Post An Offer:
Once you have posted your new contract extension the Player Agent for your division will be in contact with you as soon as possible and will either agree to the terms, ask for more money to be added to the contract, or even refuse to re-sign with your team. Therefore, it's important to keep checking back to your thread.
If the terms of a new contract are not agreed on, the player becomes a free agent. This doesn't mean that you have lost your player completely. You still have a shot at signing your once rejected player in free agency where you will have to compete with other GM'S for his services.
